Excessive speed is responsible for a huge proportion of road accidents, vehicle collisions, and fatalities. Vehicle speed analytics are used to record and prosecute perpetrators, including those driving dangerously close to road working teams and construction sites.
Stolen vehicles and equipment:
The number plate detection technology within speed analysis surveillance can be used to track vehicles being driven outside the expected area, including HGVs and industrial equipment such as cranes or diggers. It monitors unusual movements and flags an alert when a suspected theft is underway.
Failure to stop after an accident:
Vehicles driving at high speeds may be attempting to evade arrest after a crime, be fleeing the scene of an accident, or otherwise be involved in serious offences. Speed analysis cameras can capture driving speeds and continue to monitor the activity of suspicious vehicles.

ANPR tech is often integrated with access controls, creating automated entrance systems for approved vehicles, delivery drivers or company cars, with the number plates cross-checked against databases to lift entrance bollards or electronic gates.
Heavy congestion and bottlenecks:
Roadway planners use the data collated through vehicle speed analysis cameras to make informed decisions when planning works, diversions, or new routes. They can, for instance, track vehicle numbers at various times of the day, analyse average speeds and determine whether additional lanes, traffic controls, or diversions are needed to cope with capacity.
