Clearway provides K9 security services that help organisations deter intruders, detect threats and secure high-risk sites through trained security dogs and SIA approved dog handlers.
Dealing with urgent security threats or sudden spikes in risks, and need to ensure your site or business is completely protected? Security dog units provide a fast, effective and highly visible deterrent, while ensuring any suspicious activity is rapidly detected and de-escalated by efficient guard and K9 security teams.

Security dog units are teams comprising trained canine handlers and their dogs, employed to patrol areas, detect intruders, and provide real-time alerts to enhance site security.
Security guards with dogs add a new dimension to your security practices, offering a much more visible element to your defences.
Security dog units provide a powerful, round-the-clock deterrent by adding a highly visible presence to your security setup. Their advanced scent, hearing and sight capabilities enable faster threat detection and quicker response times, while trained handlers patrolling with dogs offer far greater intimidation than a guard alone. Together, they deliver continuous protection and heightened confidence that your premises are secure day and night.
Using trusted service partners for dog units and dog patrols (AKA K9), highly trained security guards and a comprehensive range of property security services, we can ensure that your site or premises is protected as thoroughly as possible.
K9 security services deliver the ultimate in site security when vulnerability is not an option.
Key Benefits of K9 Units

Are you looking for an onsite dog security urgently?
Call Clearway today and we’ll endeavour to have a highly trained, insurance and regulation-compliant security dog unit with you in the fastest possible time.

We offer varied security patrols, static K9 guarding teams and temporary or long-term protection, ensuring that event managers, business owners and high-risk facilities have the security they need for as long as necessary.
Clearly badged security vehicles can patrol your site perimeter, with dogs trained to remain watchful over all boundaries, entry points, and interiors, where applicable. Mobile units can respond very quickly to anticipated risk, with vehicles available to react fast when time is of the essence. Dogs can detect additional threats beyond human senses, enhancing the patrol’s effectiveness.
Every canine security unit is qualified in managing alarm responses, acting as keyholders, and providing open and lock-up support, ensuring each team is as flexible as they are proven to be effective.
The visual message a security guard and dog sends to potential intruders is that security is taken seriously at your premises.
Manned guarding can be static and protect specific points of vulnerability, or mobile, providing patrolled guarding. Putting a dog unit in place will significantly help improve visible security and is likely to be more effective at preventing any unauthorised access. Security guards and trained dogs are commonly used to deter potential intruders and will help your staff and other personnel feel safer and protected.
Specialist security dogs possess a range of abilities and training that allow them to detect illegal and dangerous items, including explosives, firearms, drugs and other weapons.
A dog unit used for search and detection is an ideal way to prevent the transfer of unwanted substances to a site or between locations. A canine’s incredible natural senses enable it to identify threats very quickly and reliably, without the time and labour involved in manual screening.
Detection dogs can cover extensive areas, act as continually moving patrols to stay alert for changing or mobile risks, or be stationed in a static position to screen visitors.
At large-scale gatherings, public events, or open-access sites, security dogs can provide the public or staff with instant, visual assurance that antisocial behaviour, aggression, and disturbances will be swiftly identified and addressed.
Dog units can also deal with large groups, providing crowd control and de-escalating tensions. Security guards are at reduced risk when partnered with a K9, which enables them to deal with multiple offenders at once and remain in control.
Security dogs can harness the power of their superior senses to detect distress, identify perpetrators, and reinforce instructions when issued by professional security guards.

Security Guard And Dog Patrols Are The Perfect Solutions In Many Situations:

Open spaces that are vulnerable to fly-tippers or illegal traveller settlements
Open spaces that are vulnerable to fly-tippers or illegal traveller settlements
Large and exposed sites are challenging to monitor and control, with so many potential places of risk and possible points of entry. Security guards with dogs can provide coverage of large areas. Often, the presence of a dog unit alone is an effective deterrent and prevents the threat of fly tippers, squatters or travellers and the damage that accompanies them.

Secluded sites, where a single guard may be vulnerable
Secluded sites, where a single guard may be vulnerable
In areas or sites that are secluded, there is an added element of risk as the site could be a target for those looking to break in out of hours. In this situation, our dog patrol can exceed the capabilities of a manned patrol, ensuring that guards are not exposed to heightened levels of risk without immediate access to back-up and protection.

Sensing intruders hiding beyond a line of sight
Sensing intruders hiding beyond a line of sight
Trespassers often attempt to evade detection by hiding out of sight and away from cameras, which can mean guards aren’t aware that an intruder is present until after the fact.
Well-trained security dogs can smell intruders before they’ve been able to commit a crime, even if they are hiding in total silence, reducing the risks of breaches by a substantial margin.

Protecting valuable equipment, goods or scrap materials
Protecting valuable equipment, goods or scrap materials
Every business values its people and its assets, but sometimes, particularly valuable projects require superior security. These can include expensive goods, lucrative assets or scrap materials exposed to theft, thus making a site more vulnerable as a whole.
Our dog security units can be tasked with general site coverage, guarding points of entry, or managing control over specific equipment that demands a higher level of protection.

Empty buildings or construction projects that may attract squatters
Empty buildings or construction projects that may attract squatters
A vacant premises or construction site is particularly vulnerable to unauthorised access, vandalism, squatters and theft, which can put a significant strain on operations and finances to resolve.
Our dog units enable continual monitoring of a site, 24/7, protecting vacant properties around the clock, ensuring they remain secure and safe.

Offices or commercial ventures that benefit from a visible security presence
Offices or commercial ventures that benefit from a visible security presence
Businesses are often a target of theft, particularly when hours of business are public information. Equipment such as IT hardware is frequently targeted as a crime of convenience and can be protected by having dog security as a visible indication that the site is under professional control.
Premises, including offices, sites, and commercial facilities, benefit from such a presence, ensuring they are not vulnerable to theft or intruders.
Key Features

Choose Seasoned Canine Security Teams for Any Duration
Having a highly trained security dog is an efficient and cost-effective way of providing enhanced security solutions in a range of different scenarios. Security guards and their dogs, typically referred to as dog units, can be employed for a one-off event or for a longer-term solution, and are experienced in working with both large and small businesses.
Introduce Always-on Live Streaming Through K9 Handler Bodycams
Dog handlers can be equipped with body cams to provide live streams of events happening in real-time. This means that we are able to offer 24/7 monitoring of our sites, meaning you’ll have the peace of mind that your event or property is rigorously protected at all times.
Protect Against Aggression, Violence and Illegal Substances
Specially trained dogs can detect illegal substances and explosives using their heightened sense of smell, roughly 40 times more sensitive than our own. The speed of having a security dog is equally valuable when pursuing an intruder, ensuring criminals cannot escape or outrun a dog that can reach 15 to 20 mph.
Reduce the Costs of Whole-Site Security Protection
The cost of a single security guard with a dog is lower than the cost of two security guards, and it is also a more effective deterrent.
Rest Assured Your Security Dog Units Are Fully Compliant
As experienced providers of K9 guarding teams, we are fully insured, deploying NASDU-accredited dog handlers and SIA-licensed guards backed by our NSI Gold Cat II-accredited Alarm Response Centre for emergency alert management.
Why Security Dogs?

Here’s what to expect from the process. From the moment you call us to the continued relationship after your site is secured.
1. Visible Deterrent
Whether used within crowd control, overnight security or ongoing perimeter patrols, uniformed guards with K9 partners ensure there is no perception that the site or event may be an easy target or have unprotected vulnerabilities.
2. Coverage of Large Areas
Security units can be stationary at designated points, mobile or roving, using the superior scent, sight and hearing of trained dogs to pick up on anything outside the norm, even at the furthest reaches of your perimeters.
3. Earliest-Possible Threat Detection
K9 units are experienced, and signal to their handlers when they pick up on something that requires investigation – such as a person on the premises. This enables guards to investigate, without activating a potentially false alarm.
4. Challenge and Pursuit
If a live incident is intercepted, security dogs can be commanded to pursue the intruder, ensuring there is no prospect of being able to hide and evade detection, while guards follow your protocols, notifying our response teams, other patrols or the emergency services as appropriate.
How to Integrate Dog Units Into Your Security Coverage

1. Site or Event-Specific Risk Assessment
Risk evaluations help us provide detailed recommendations about how and where security dog units should be stationed, with the option to request rapid deployment in an emergency.
2. Determine the Period Security Dogs Units Are Required
Our teams can be stationed on sites or within events for any duration, whether you need to protect against weapons and drugs during a festival, or need ongoing perimeter security for your business.
3. Deploy K9 Security Teams
We will ensure your security dog unit is with you quickly, deploying qualified, accredited guards who have years of expertise working alongside their canine companions.
4. Adjust or Extend Contracts as Needed
If your security threats change or you need to extend your contract to deal with new risks, we provide the flexibility to make adjustments as necessary.

Our canine patrols are as highly valued as our security team and are treated as respected and professional members of our security family. They can also address a broad range of concerns and issues you may be experiencing, including the following.
You may have had numerous break-ins, serious threats or continued attempts to bypass alarms and CCTV surveillance and want an on-site security presence that goes beyond the security offered by cameras or alarms alone.
Static guards can only cover up to a finite area of open land or perimeter circumferences within larger complexes, construction sites or open land. Canine patrols have an extended scope, with dogs able to detect sounds, noises and movements at great distances.
Trained security dogs can alert their handlers long before movement, the presence of a trespasser or distant noises would be detectable to humans or to surveillance assets. This ensures security guards can react quickly and effectively before an intrusion occurs or a criminal can leave the site.
We can often deploy canine teams within 24 hours and act quickly if you cannot wait for improved security measures to arrive, or if you have an immediate security threat to de-escalate.
The presence of security dog units is calming and reassuring, with event attendees, members of the public and staff aware that they are protected, and that any potential disturbances or criminal activity will be dealt with swiftly.
You already have security guards or patrols, but need to ensure they have backup and additional support, especially when operating in areas without immediate access to help, such as isolated rural compounds or overnight patrols on sites with heightened risk.
Our security dog units and handlers are trained and accredited, giving you the peace of mind that your professional site-wide protection is fully compliant with all terms of your insurance coverage.
You’ve had previous issues where intrusions and break-ins have only been detected or challenged once the damage has been done, and you need a way to prevent criminals from getting past your entrances or fence lines.
All security dog units deployed by Clearway are SIA and NASDU Qualified, which means they are approved by the National Association of Security Dog Users, and offer 24/7 Security services to ensure you benefit from constant protection with round-the-clock security.

As a long-established security company, Clearway’s provision of K9 security is professional and effective. We believe that our reputation is built on understanding client requirements and providing fast and cost-effective protection for even the largest and most complex of sites.
We have 20+ Years of operational experience as a provider of security dog units that are entirely reliable and trustworthy, providing clients with independent advice and recommendations, comprehensive risk assessments and flexible hire periods based on your needs and security threat profile.
One of the key advantages of hiring a security guard and a dog is that dogs have enhanced natural abilities that are ideally suited to the needs of security deployment. Dogs have exceptional hearing, which means they can easily pick up sounds and covert movement far before a human would. Breeds used within security dog units can typically hear over four times the distance we can, and detect high-frequency sounds, which ensures they can alert guards quickly to issues that might otherwise not have been apparent.
Clearway can deploy canine units and guards within 24 hours when you have an emergency requirement, ensuring our clients benefit from a physical security presence and the assurance that their site is not exposed to the risks of break-ins, vandalism, and other criminal activity.
We work with a huge range of organisations and public sector bodies and can offer input if you’re concerned about adhering to health and safety, sector-specific regulatory or insurance compliance requirements.

Clearway supports diverse sectors requiring rapid security deployment. Our clients include construction companies, property developers, event organisers, and facility managers who need reliable surveillance solutions. We’re trusted by:

Our UK Sales Director, Kelvin Danton, explains why dog units are so effective.
There is zero doubt that a security dog unit —or multiple units —is an incredibly effective way to stamp out critical risks, leveraging the advanced detection capabilities of trained K9 security dogs and their handlers.
Dog units in every case reduce risks of confrontations and trespass attempts, and deter squatters, travellers and organised criminals who can see there is a strong chance of being challenged, detected and apprehended.
