Clearway provides lone worker devices that offer real-time location tracking, two-way audio communication, and automatic alerts to enhance safety for individuals working alone.
If you’ve ever been responsible for the safety of a lone worker who has felt at risk and been unable to call for help, you’ll know that it is enormously distressing to have concerns about the welfare of your workforce.
Clearway lone worker devices are ideal for employees working alone or in potentially dangerous environments, providing peace of mind that they have a constant communication channel via their personal safety device.

A lone worker device is a safety solution designed to protect individuals working alone by providing features such as real-time location tracking, two-way audio communication, and automatic alerts.
Typical lone worker security risks can include threats to physical health, mental health or wellbeing, issues related to existing medical conditions, and the nature of the working environment.
A lone worker device is one way of managing these risks. The lone worker can use this personal device to notify our Alarm Receiving Centre, which can monitor and record the situation in real-time and dispatch emergency services if needed.
This way, the worker can always contact trained personnel in the event of an incident or emergency while working alone and receive help promptly.

Introduce Multi-Site Protection for All Lone Workers
Our ARC-monitored solutions are ideal for businesses with staff working at night, or within numerous locations, with responders tracking any number of devices 24/7/365.
Full Compliance With HSE Lone Worker Regulations
Lone working devices help employers fulfil their duty of care and ensure employees stay safe, and we can offer independent advice on adhering to strict insurance coverage standards.
Incorporate Panic Buttons, GPS-Enabled Personal Alarms, and SOS Systems
Body-worn and helmet-mounted devices and cameras can be fitted with advanced features that enable colleagues to summon urgent help, communicate with our responders or their supervisors, or activate an emergency signal if they become injured or unwell.
Deter Violence, Aggression and Threats to Staff
Workers in public-facing roles, and particularly those in construction and highways, report an increase in incidents of abusive behaviour towards them. Equipment that records actions and movements can be imperative for addressing, reporting, and prosecuting perpetrators.
Activate Rapid Responses With Defined Protocols
Managers and alarm receiving centres can assess whether there is a live incident, direct the individual to a refuge or safe space, and monitor their condition while an emergency vehicle or security team is en route.
How Lone Worker Devices Work in Practice

1. One-Push SOS Buttons
If the person carrying or wearing the lone worker alarm feels they’re in danger, they can press the relevant button and then instantly connect to our Alarm Receiving Centre.
2. Incident De-escalation
Our lone work alarms may be triggered when facing threats of violence, illegal activity or due to a life-threatening or medical emergency – whatever the cause, Clearway is on hand to respond fast and to help stabilise the situation.
3. Situation Management
Clearway’s trained operators will then listen to and appraise the situation, make recordings and take appropriate action, including calling the emergency services where relevant.
4. Live Communications and Location Tracking
Staff can activate a GPS locator, which tracks their movement, and also call a ‘buddy’ via the two-way audio channel. As such, the devices are an excellent choice for potentially vulnerable individuals in a variety of organisations and environments.
Introducing Lone Worker Devices to Your Workforce

Following your initial enquiry for a lone worker alarm, we will arrange a consultation, site visit and risk assessment to understand your security requirements and the solutions you require.
2. Device Recommendations
Body-worn safety devices (or bodycams) can supplement lone worker devices to improve worker safety. In contrast, hard-hat-mounted cameras are ideal for workers operating on sites that require protective headwear, such as construction or roadwork.
3. Lone Worker Device Deployment
We will deliver your devices, provide training in their correct usage and test integrations and communications between portals, devices and our response centre.
4. Ongoing Monitoring
Our alarm monitors will respond efficiently to any alert, monitoring the situation remotely and taking appropriate action to help your lone workers stay safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Employers must manage health and safety risks before people can work independently. There are many inherent risks when doing so. These can include all of the following concerns or reported issues.
You have personnel who operate in isolated or high-risk situations and need a way to protect their wellbeing throughout their working hours.
You’ve discovered that your current safeguards aren’t HSE-compliant and need to move quickly to put the right safeguards in place.
You’re worried about staff becoming unwell or injured, or being confronted without a way to call for help or report an emergency.
You’re reliant on staff calling or texting to report they have arrived, but in areas with poor mobile signals, this doesn’t always happen, leading to stress and worry.
You’ve already had problems impacting the safety of lone workers and need an effective, reliable solution to ensure you can react fast when a crisis begins to unfold.
You’re conscious that aggression and abuse are becoming more likely and need to demonstrate your commitment to protecting your staff from all potential incidents.
We have a tailored approach to all the businesses we work with, ensuring we provide you with a security solution that works for your organisation now and can adapt to your requirements in the future.

They can – something that may be vital if a lone worker has reported a concern, requested backup or logged an incident.
Our responders and managers can see exactly where the device is at all times, contacting the wearer if they need to check they are well, or providing accurate location information to security responders or the emergency services where necessary.
Our lone worker devices incorporate an extended-life battery with a standby power source that can last for 10 days – ensuring the alarm or camera remains operational for the full duration of any shift.
Yes, we often speak with businesses concerned about issues such as verbal abuse and confrontation, who want to be able to record every event or create logs they require for regulatory and health and safety purposes.
We can integrate lone worker devices with bodycams and helmet-mounted cameras and provide ongoing monitoring of all alarms and surveillance assets through our Alarm Response Centre (ARC).
Yes, camera technology can be a smart way to protect the safety and wellbeing of lone workers, particularly those in potentially hostile or vulnerable positions. Most roadway work teams or construction sites will need to erect signage advising that body-worn cameras are in use.
Health and safety legislation means employers are responsible for protecting lone workers from accidents, injuries, and other incidents, just as they are for staff working in a group setting.
Issuing staff with monitored camera safety equipment is an excellent way to showcase a commitment to lone worker safety. Most lone workers will appreciate the security and confidence provided by convenient body-worn or hard-hat-mounted cameras integrated into their PPE.
Camera footage can reduce potential liability, document events, and ensure an emergency response is activated immediately if a lone worker falls, is injured, or requires medical assistance.
Our lone worker devices have features that set them apart from our bodycams and helmet cameras. For example, SOS, man-down, and no-movement alarm notifications are sent to the IoT platform. It’s advisable to combine our lone-worker devices with camera technology for full protection in lone-worker scenarios.
Personal alarms for lone workers provide employees who work alone with a way to call for help in an emergency. A panic alarm is usually triggered on a smartphone or device, which is then transmitted to a monitoring station, another member of staff, or the emergency services.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) defines a lone worker as someone who works along and without direct or close supervision. These people can include:
Many other types of workers may benefit from lone worker alarms, such as security personnel, shop assistants, vulnerable individuals, and those in positions of authority and responsibility for enforcing rules.
Our lone worker alarms connect to our Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), where our trained operators listen, assess, record and dispatch security or emergency personnel if required. Whenever the device is activated, the operative will know exactly who the user is, their precise location and follow the agreed procedure to ensure the safety of the lone worker.
The device also allows employees and employers to communicate without a mobile phone.
