Clearway installs construction site alarms that detect intrusions and alert monitoring centres to prevent theft and vandalism.
The first line of any security system is to deter potential threats and intruder activity – but when this fails, Clearway construction site alarms are responsive and intuitive, detecting intrusions and breaches and alerting the appropriate personnel.
Our building site alarm systems, engineered specifically for construction sites, offer huge peace of mind, especially if you’ve experienced intrusions or thefts and need the assurance that any future suspicious activity will result in a rapid alarm signal to deter thieves.

Construction site alarms are security systems designed to detect unauthorised access and alert monitoring centres to prevent theft and vandalism.
Installing highly responsive construction site alarms showcases that you’re serious about protecting your equipment, site and people – and advancements in wireless and remote security make it faster and easier to introduce tough controls and deterrents when you need them most.
From temporary alarm systems to perimeter protection, high-mounted CCTV masts to AI-enabled CCTV that can automatically detect anything outside the norm, our vast range of solutions is always adapted to your risk assessments, budgets and priorities.
Clearway’s alarm systems adhere to the highest standards, which not only means you’ll be able to stamp out the worry of another break-in, but that you’ll be in full compliance with every applicable regulation, health and safety law and insurance coverage condition.
Key Benefits of Construction Site Alarms

Need to upgrade your construction site fire alarms asap?
If your site is at risk of a fire, we can help you install fire alarms quickly.

We secure numerous construction sites in the UK, offering diverse forms of construction site security to keep projects on track.
They include CCTV towers as a robust solution for monitoring large construction sites, providing 360-degree coverage and real-time surveillance.
Site access control systems ensure that only authorised personnel gain entry, enhancing security and reducing risk, while site CCTV installations deliver continuous, high-definition monitoring, allowing for quick responses to incidents and maintaining safety across your project.
The Clearway inView Visually Verified System is a battery-powered internal or external alarm system that captures a series of still images of the cause of the activation, collates them into a ten-second clip and sends it, via the mobile network, to a predetermined recipient or our NSI Gold Cat II monitoring station (ARC).
Video verification is most commonly used to provide notification of different activation types, such as human entry or wildlife. This is particularly useful where false alarms are common and allows the monitoring service to determine the appropriate action to be taken and/or the security service or police to be deployed.
Many construction sites require temporary alarms – for a variety of reasons:
Clearway offers temporary construction site alarms to ensure your premises and sites are secure for as long as you need.
Construction sites can be a hotbed of flammable materials. Scaffolding, roof coverings and timber constructions can fuel the flames should a fire break out on site.
It’s not enough to rely on a fire extinguisher in the event of an alarm as your sole fire safety measure. Intelligent fire alarm systems installed by qualified fire engineers can detect fire and smoke and notify your alarm response team immediately.
Clearway’s construction site fire alarms, an integral component of our extensive fire systems offering, address the full spectrum of fire safety needs for construction sites.
From conventional fire systems tailored for commercial buildings to advanced voice evacuation and public address solutions designed for public access areas, Clearway offers a comprehensive range. Get a Clearway fire safety risk assessment today.
Clearway’s inView Detect is an ideal choice for protecting your construction site, functioning seamlessly as a motion-detected perimeter alarm system (PIDS).
With its easy deployment and user-friendly interface, inView Detect offers 360° coverage, allowing effective monitoring and protection should movement be detected.
When activated, an alert is transmitted and verified quickly via the integrated AI system, with a series of images sent to our NSI Gold Cat II Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) to ascertain the cause of the alert.
Deter construction site thefts with a powerful 120db audible siren and flashing blue LED strobes for visual alerts.
Our NSI Gold certification ensures that Clearway’s construction site alarm monitoring services adhere to the highest industry standards, offering the utmost reliability and effectiveness.
For construction sites, where security is paramount, the NSI Gold Monitoring offers a level of assurance and trustworthiness crucial for the safety of assets and personnel. Our trained alarm responders provide swift and accurate responses to alarm activations, minimising the risk of false alarms and ensuring that genuine threats are addressed promptly.
Clearway’s construction site alarm maintenance services are a vital component of our commitment to comprehensive safety solutions. Our tailored approach recognises the unique challenges of construction environments, ensuring that alarms remain in optimal condition to meet the stringent safety requirements of these sites.
Our qualified technicians conduct routine inspections and proactive maintenance, addressing potential issues before they escalate. This meticulous approach not only enhances the reliability of your alarms but also ensures that construction sites are well-prepared to respond swiftly and effectively in case of an emergency. How Construction Site Alarms Work in Practice

Here’s what to expect from the process. From the moment you call us to the continued relationship after your site is secured.
From Call to Hire, getting your site secured is straightforward
1. Flag Unusual, Suspicious or Prohibited Activity
Motion detected overnight, an unknown vehicle approaching, or covert activity around your perimeters can all trigger a preventative alert from AI-enabled systems and perimeter alarms.
2. Track Movement Patterns
Intelligent construction site alarms can be programmed to any parameters, which means that anything outside of the norm, or that could potentially be a security threat, activates an alert for investigation.
3. Raise Immediate Alarms
Any confirmed break-in, trespass or other criminal activity will be detected by your alarm systems, which instantly circulate notifications to security responders, our ARC teams or your on-site guards.
4. Record Data and Logs for De-escalation and Prosecution
Video verified alarms collate information, which can be used to investigate the underlying causes behind a safety or security event, or to record the perpetrators to enable onward police action.
Our construction site alarm process

Here’s what to expect once your site is secured.
1. Conduct a Thorough Risk Assessment
Every construction site will have different threats, which is why a professional risk appraisal helps us to see whether your biggest vulnerabilities lie in exposure to fire risks or in break-ins via unsupervised rear entry routes.
2. Consider Insurance and Regulatory Requirements
It’s essential that construction sites adhere to all the relevant regulations and insurance coverage conditions, and we can advise on these to ensure you are covered at all times.
3. Receive Independent Advice From Clearway
Our construction security specialists offer personalised guidance, based on your concerns, budgets, timeframes and any priorities in terms of keeping your construction site running smoothly.
4. Deploy Construction Site Alarms and Monitoring Services
When you are ready to proceed, we react quickly, assigning our nationwide teams to install wireless alarms, monitoring solutions, perimeter alarms and other services.

We know that any unauthorised intrusions or break-ins can cause a substantial delay in productivity, as well as time and costs required to replace stolen equipment or repair damage.
We also understand that fire safety on construction sites is paramount. Investing in building alarms will not only significantly reduce these threats, they also give site managers and staff the peace of mind that the site is fully protected.
You’re responsible for a construction site that already has some element of security, but you need a backup system that will ensure there is no potential for an intruder to reach storage bays, high-value equipment or materials without your security teams being notified.
There have been multiple false callouts due to issues like wildlife or heavy winds, and you need to ensure this doesn’t keep happening, especially where audible alarms are impacting the peace of local businesses or residents, or you’re managing spiralling costs to attend these callouts.
You have conventional alarms, but that only emit a sound or beacon, with a strong chance that this will be ignored or dismissed as false, even during a live break-in. You might also have alarms with some sort of monitoring service, but have found this to be unfit for purpose.
Your construction site may have ongoing fire safety risks or temporary concerns, or you’ve discovered during your latest fire risk assessment that your profile has worsened, and you need a rapid way to ensure you’re compliant with fire safety rules.
There has been a theft, vandalism or break-in, and you need to act quickly to deter future attacks or protect your site during periods of elevated risk, such as when accepting deliveries of higher-value raw materials or when there are expected civil unrest incidents nearby.
Your insurer has stated that your existing alarms or monitoring are not within their terms of cover, and you need to update your alarms to include either video verification to ensure all alerts are investigated promptly, or a 24/7 monitoring service to capture and address all potential incidents.
Your site is in a location where there is no connection to any source of mains power, or where the site is likely to be vacant for a period of time, and you need a way to monitor and protect the development either until power infrastructure is in place, or until work begins.
You must have a way to install construction alarms as additional protection when guards are not present, when a pending permanent camera is not yet available, or while changing site layouts during live projects and testing or servicing other alarm systems to ensure there are no gaps in your security.
There are increasing concerns about the potential for break-ins overnight, at weekends, or during upcoming holiday periods. You don’t just need alarms around your storage bays, but around the entirety of your construction site boundary, where intrusions are more likely.
You have concerns about whether you’re meeting the Construction Design and Management (CDM) rules or have undergone an audit that found failings in your safety systems – and need to react quickly to ensure you’re adhering to all regulations and insurance requirements.

Our UK Sales Director, Kelvin Danton, explains why building site security is so important.
Construction site CCTV is fundamental, but its effectiveness depends on the specific risks and threats you need to manage. Done well, a set of hyper-efficient cameras is a crucial resource to protect against all threats – whether security, environmental or health and safety related.

Got a question about our site security? Read our frequently asked questions.
A PID perimeter alarm system uses passive-infrared sensors that detect heat signatures and movement, which means they can pick up on covert activities such as a person crawling over ground – something a conventional motion sensor may not be sensitive enough to detect.
In addition, PIR systems are more advanced, integrating with other security assets to differentiate between heat signatures attributed to animals and people.
Yes! Visual verification alarms work by capturing a quick series of images or a burst of footage whenever the alarm sensors are triggered. That means the alert not only notifies you and our monitoring teams that an alarm has been activated but also shows you the cause.
If, for instance, it is obvious that a fox or badger has activated the alarm, this can be logged as false or stood down. However, if the system detects an intruder, we can react quickly to notify the police or on-site patrols.
Testing and configuring alarms is an important aspect, as it eliminates the risk that a long-standing security system has a fault or has been tampered with. The regulations state, as a rough guide, that site managers should conduct weekly visual inspections, with monthly functional tests and at least annual professional maintenance.
However, this could vary considerably depending on the nature of your alarms and security systems, the risk levels you’re dealing with, and whether you have temporary alarms or long-term installations.
Clearway’s NSI Gold Monitoring ensures a prompt and accurate response to alarm activations across one or several sites. Our quick response times are critical in mitigating potential threats and minimising the impact of security incidents on your construction site, or over multi-site projects, with all notifications and alerts sent to you in one user-friendly interface or to your chosen device.
