Temporary CCTV

Often, a client requires increased security for a vacant property or temporary site, as it is vulnerable to unauthorised entry when unguarded. There are multiple reasons criminals might target these locations, and the impacts can be extensive, including downtime, repair costs, managing insurance claims, and the stress and working hours required to recover from a security breach.

In many cases, our clients utilise a new locality on a short-term basis and want to offer their personnel the same level of protection as they would expect on a permanent site.

In these instances, temporary business security cameras are an excellent solution for keeping your premises secure despite the challenging environment. That said, the flexibility of temporary, wireless CCTV can be useful in a vast range of scenarios and for businesses in every sector.

Temporary CCTV systems are frequently used by clients who need surveillance for short-term periods. They provide excellent flexibility and value. Being simple and quick to install/remove, these solutions are ideal where coverage is required for a shorter period, such as festivals, construction sites or vacant properties awaiting refurbishment.

Temporary CCTV

Hardwired Business Security Cameras

CCTV plays a key role in keeping customers, employees and physical premises safe. The presence of a well-set-up, visible camera system can deter criminals before they even consider a break-in. They give the people in and around your premises a sense of security. If something does go wrong, there will be a record of what happens.

Professional fixed commercial CCTV cameras and wired CCTV systems are an ideal way to continuously protect your property. No matter whether you want to prevent unauthorised access, trespassing, vandalism, theft, or any other illegal activity, fixed CCTV systems help ensure your organisation is protected from day one.

Hardwired/Fixed CCTV

Industrial CCTV

CCTV for industrial sites such as depots, warehouses, manufacturing plants and production lines is necessarily complex, with a wide range of variables that dictate the right business security cameras, technology, recording system and viewing access.

Many industrial businesses have countless assets exposed to criminal theft, including tools, vehicles, machinery, equipment, and materials. They require continual active surveillance to deter prospective intruders, ensure the safety of business-critical components, and provide oversight of ongoing work processes.

Clearway’s industrial CCTV solutions can be both straightforward and highly sophisticated, depending on your risks, with options such as:

  • Short-term CCTV hire contracts for elevated-risk activities, such as receiving delivery of costly tooling parts, or during strictly time-sensitive work programmes.
  • Static CCTV solutions, installed with tamper-proof fittings, which are used to monitor entrances, emergency exits, loading bays and roller doors.
  • Mast-mounted CCTV, which can cover large areas of land with pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) functionality, assisting in evaluating whether any activities are suspicious.

Business owners may also wish to integrate analytics such as vehicle number plate recognition (ANPR) for the highest level of security.

These systems automate electronic gates, lift barriers to grant entry to authorised vehicles, and prevent any car from accessing the site that hasn’t been logged in a pre-approved database.

Industrial CCTV

IP CCTV Cameras

IP CCTV surveillance uses internet protocol cameras and video feed transmissions for fast, dependable security monitoring, as an upgrade for legacy CCTV networks, or as an additional layer of protection.

The benefits of IP CCTV include the following:

  • Quality CCTV surveillance with compatible analytic software enables functions such as facial recognition or behaviour mapping.
  • Expedited installations without disruption to your business operations or visitors.
  • Remote access to real-time footage through a central control base or any handheld device.
  • Advanced IP CCTV cameras are available in multiple configurations. Options include megapixel technology and high-definition cameras for crystal-clear imagery in box, dome, or bullet camera casings.

IP CCTV works by compressing data into smaller files, which are circulated over a secure link for instant notification if suspicious activity is detected, and by providing exceptional longevity for durable, high-performance CCTV cameras suited to indoor or outdoor applications.

IP CCTV

Construction Site CCTV

Construction sites require tailored security surveillance to address the increased risks of vehicle theft, perimeter intrusions, material theft, unlawful access, and targeted break-ins where high-value materials, fuel, plant, or tools are stored on-site overnight or on weekends.

Our specialist construction site security team can recommend the right CCTV systems, with a full site analysis to establish key priorities and areas of concern, such as:

  • Remote developments or construction sites with in-progress builds where mains electricity is unreliable or unavailable. In this case, a remote or solar-powered CCTV solution is preferable for guaranteed surveillance around the clock.
  • Areas of particular risk include storage bays or delivery areas where costly materials and tooling are stored. Fixed CCTV cameras may be advisable and are commonly used in construction contractor yards to protect against ongoing break-in risks.
  • New-build premises before a first fix, where temporary CCTV or alarm solutions are best suited to provide immediate alerts when movement is detected.
  • Construction site perimeters adjacent to vehicular access routes or public rights-of-way. We may recommend mobile patrols or tower-mounted CCTV cameras with broad coverage to ensure every aspect of your boundary is monitored.

There are multiple potential solutions available, each carefully selected to address the specific security needs of your construction site and provide robust safeguards against potential incidents.

ANPR CCTV

We specialise in providing ANPR systems that can be used as a controlled entry solution for limited-access sites, to monitor traffic flow or detect specific vehicles, and record the times they enter and leave the site.

Our ANPR CCTV cameras are perfect for:

  • Automated parking charges and maximum stay monitoring.
  • Parking security for high-value or restricted-access sites.
  • Preventative measures against car theft and/or vandalism.
  • Monitoring to avoid lost ticket fraud as part of car park management.
  • Ticketless parking fee management.

ANPR CCTV

Analogue CCTV

Analogue CCTV is a valuable part of a robust surveillance approach, used in commercial buildings, retail parks, business premises, and countless other scenarios, including residential homes, providing high-quality security protection.

As a cost-effective CCTV solution, analogue CCTV cameras are reliable and manufactured for longevity with a range of features and functions to meet your key requirements:

  • Digital and hybrid recording networks can simultaneously collate footage from IP and analogue CCTV cameras, providing an all-in-one solution.
  • Day-and-night image capture with high-definition or infrared cameras is ideal where security issues are heightened after dark or where you have concealed entrances without natural daylight.
  • CCTV feeds are available for remote, live, and desktop viewing, giving you full visibility of your building at your convenience.

Our analogue CCTV systems combine the best in efficient performance and budget-friendly security protection with advanced camera technology and options such as bullet, box and dome casings, with varying fields of vision.

Upgrading analogue CCTV to new cameras with enhanced capabilities can provide an instant improvement to your security without the need for rewiring.

Analogue CCTV

NSI Gold Monitoring

Whether you want to prevent unauthorised entry, trespassing, squatting, or fly-tipping, or just maintain tight control over who accesses and enters your property or land, high-quality, reliable CCTV monitoring is a proven method of keeping your property or land continually secure. It can be combined with other security measures and visual deterrents.

NSI Gold Monitoring

CCTV Maintenance

CCTV systems are considerably more likely to develop faults or fail without regular, preventative maintenance. If this happens, or if you have unmanned monitors, you could even find yourself unaware of a problem until you retrospectively review footage.

If you’re aware that the CCTV system is not functioning correctly, you’re left to rely solely on the visual deterrent effect of CCTV, but without being able to access or use crucial CCTV footage when you need it as evidence.

InView Detect

Supplement and enhance your CCTV system with inView Detect. Our system seamlessly integrates with inView CCTV Towers, presenting a holistic CCTV security system.

The joint system, when connected with inView CCTV Towers, delivers thorough 360° CCTV surveillance coverage in the event of a security breach.

When strategically placed, the wireless motion detection system initiates the initial alert for potential intrusions, while the accompanying CCTV cameras record real-time images and footage. This synergy enables security personnel to visually assess the situation and respond effectively to security threats.

This solar panel/battery-powered solution ensures uninterrupted year-round operation, providing eyes-on protection for your sites and assets.

Key Features of Commercial CCTV

    Key Features

    cctv glossary of terms

    Existing CCTV System Upgrades

Clearway offers a cost-effective solution to upgrade your current business CCTV system at your pace, reflecting the challenges of improving how you protect your site without compromising on security and safety. We recognise that investing in site security is integral to operational safety and can maintain existing CCTV systems, often extending their lifespan, or offer modular systems that serve as an upgrade. In every scenario, our role is to ensure we advise and deliver on solutions that will most benefit your organisation.

    Bullet CCTV Cameras

Bullet CCTV cameras are named for their long, cylindrical shape. These are often used for long-distance viewing or in fixed locations, as they typically don’t include pan/tilt/zoom. They can be wall or ceiling-mounted and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Protective casings are also available to make the camera waterproof and to protect the camera lens from dust and dirt in environments where these conditions are likely to inhibit clear vision.

    Network/IP CCTV Cameras

Whether hardwired or wireless, these cameras transmit images over the internet, often compressing the bandwidth to reduce server network strain. Footage is typically either accessed via secure, remote software or stored on network video recorders (NVRs). One of the many benefits is that IP cameras don’t rely on a dedicated cable to transmit images over long distances, making them considerably easier to install.

    C-Mount CCTV Cameras

C-mount CCTV cameras feature detachable lenses, allowing them to be configured for different applications. Standard CCTV camera lenses typically cover distances of 35-40ft, whereas a C-mount CCTV camera can, with the right lenses, cover far greater distances.

    Wireless CCTV Cameras

Wireless cameras are exactly that – wireless. They allow greater flexibility in location and are much quicker and easier to install. They’re suited to most environments, but places such as stately homes, museums, and churches, where the presence of wires would be unsightly.

    Pan, Tilt & Zoom Cameras

PTZ cameras allow free-range, multi-dimensional movement, with the ability to pan, tilt, and zoom. These cameras are often introduced in settings where control room operators manually supervise feeds remotely.

    Dome CCTV Cameras

Dome CCTV cameras are among the most common types. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Named for the dome-shaped housing that mounts the camera, these are ideal for deterring crime, as it is not easy for intruders to see which way the camera is facing and to evade detection. Speed dome cameras are also available. These cameras allow an operator to pan/tilt/zoom and spin quickly, giving them a greater ability to focus on specific events.

    Day/Night CCTV Cameras

Day/night CCTV cameras capture clear video in varying light conditions and in the dark. The day/night camera is best suited for outdoor applications and can operate in glare, direct sunlight, reflections, and strong backlight.

    Infrared/Night Vision CCTV Cameras

Night-vision CCTV cameras capture images in pitch-black conditions using infrared LEDs. They are best suited to outdoor environments with poor to no lighting.

    Thermal CCTV Cameras

Thermal cameras capture images of objects emitting heat that the naked eye or conventional HD cameras might miss, such as intruders hiding behind foliage or other obstructions. Faulty machinery, corroded electrical components, and damaged components often display abnormal temperatures before complete failure. The use of thermal cameras can help to detect these early signs and reduce fire risk.

How Commercial CCTV Works in Practice

    cctv working without light

How Commercial CCTV Works in Practice

    1. Deterring Intruders

Installing highly visible cameras in key locations around entrances and perimeters, with signage warning of live monitoring, acts as a strong deterrent, backed by rapid responsiveness facilitated by our accredited monitoring centre.

    2. Capturing Data and Intelligence

Business owners and supervisors can access real-time feeds from any remote location, store information used for compliance monitoring, and share it with the authorities to assist in intruder identification and prosecution.

    3. Flagging Alerts and Suspicious Activity

AI integrations and auto-analytics ensure that covert or hard-to-spot patterns become obvious, noting when, for instance, a vehicle returns repeatedly to the same place, or a person is on site who isn’t a recognised member of staff.

    4. Circulating Verified Alarms

Each alert is immediately transmitted to our trained responders, who will confirm whether the alarm is genuine or not, and activate a rapid response, whether dispatching security teams, notifying on-site personnel, or liaising with the emergency services.

How Does a Commercial CCTV Integration Work?

How Does a Commercial CCTV Integration Work?

    1. Person, Vehicle and Movement Detection

Commercial CCTV systems keep watch over your site day and night, flagging anything that seems unusual or that doesn’t match the normal trends. They can also be programmed to monitor high-value equipment or vehicles and alert security guards when they move or are approached.

    2. Monitoring Traffic and Patterns

While commercial CCTV is often installed primarily as a crime deterrent and a risk mitigation measure, it can also be used to track compliance with safe working practices and to cover multiple sites simultaneously within one easily accessible dashboard.

    3. Analysing Behaviours

Advanced sensors that pick up on heat signatures and motion can predict an emergency risk before it arises, or detect a threat that a human cannot, raising a pre-emptive alarm to ensure responders can de-escalate the situation before it occurs.

    4. Differentiating Between False and Genuine Alerts

Cutting-edge CCTV tech can produce crisp, high-resolution imagery in any light conditions, allowing responders to verify whether an alarm is authentic or caused by something harmless, such as wildlife, and doesn’t require a callout.

    Key Problems Commercial CCTV Resolves

Whether your existing CCTV has let you down, you have experienced too many false callouts to count, or you are concerned about increasingly strict GDPR requirements, our commercial surveillance cameras can address a wide range of problems, including those listed below.

    1. You Need Reliable, Professional CCTV to Protect Your Business From Thefts, Trespass and Vandalism

You’ve had repeat break-ins, damage caused by vandals, and been left stranded by off-the-shelf camera systems that seem to fail when you need them most —and now need a fully dependable alternative to keep your site safe.

    2. You Require Continual Coverage for Large or Complex Sites

There are distinct challenges for larger sites with extensive perimeters, where physical patrols and guards can’t cover every corner simultaneously, and you want advanced surveillance to augment visibility across the whole site or compound.

    3. You Need a Way to Monitor Multiple Locations Remotely to Adhere to Compliance Requirements

You may have numerous sites or business locations and want to track activity across all settings at once, from a remote device, with data collated to serve as evidence of incidents, verify safety measures are in place, or support proof of compliance.

    4. You’re Looking for Temporary CCTV Surveillance for a Construction Site or Property Subject to Refurbishment Work or Vacancy

You’re the owner or manager of a development, a vacant property without mains power, or a renovation project, and need dependable CCTV that works without WiFi or electricity.

    5. You Currently Have an Analogue System That Isn’t Up to Date and Want a Modern, Compatible Alternative

Outdated surveillance systems often need to be replaced with solar-powered or IP CCTV that can be integrated with other services, such as data analytics and 24/7 monitoring.

    6. You’re Dealing With Continued Issues Around False Alarms and Unverified Threats

You’ve had countless false alerts, which carry a cost in terms of time and resources, and you’re worried that genuine threats might be ignored, or that continuing with your existing alarms will leave your personnel overwhelmed with notifications.

    7. You Require a GDPR-Compliant Surveillance System to Protect Assets and Your Business’s Reputation

You’re concerned about data privacy regulations and want a CCTV solution that actively prevents theft and raises instant alerts during intrusion attempts, while also safeguarding your professional standing and regulatory compliance.

    8. You Want to Implement Around-the-Clock Monitoring From a Trusted Partner

Too many potentially critical alarms are being ignored or missed, and you need a monitoring service that will trigger a response within seconds and verify whether alerts are genuine emergencies.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long do you provide installation for (i.e. short-term or long-term)

Clearway provides commercial CCTV installation, both short-term and long-term. We provide fixed CCTV cameras powered by mains electricity for longer-term solutions, as well as solar- or battery-powered systems for short-term surveillance and security. The latter, in particular, is a great option for vacant properties or construction sites that require short- to medium-term CCTV protection.

What are your response times in the event of a breach?

Our surveillance professionals will monitor your site 24/7, and in the event of a breach, we will respond immediately and follow a predefined set of actions. We will define these protocols at the start of our agreement to ensure that each type of breach is dealt with as quickly and effectively as possible.

Are there any legal requirements for using your CCTV on our business premises?

There are several essential considerations and rules regarding the use of CCTV that you need to be aware of. From ensuring staff and the public are fully informed about the use of cameras (data protection) to storing feeds and footage (GDPR), companies must uphold the law. We’ve created an article on the rules of CCTV for businesses and will also advise you on compliance if you choose to work with us. Read more about the legal requirements of CCTV here.

Are your CCTV services GDPR compliant?

At our CCTV monitoring station, all data formats (including video footage) are stored in accordance with the GDPR. The GDPR harmonises data protection across Europe and ensures that all of your data is kept safe. For additional details, discuss this with our sales advisors or read our website terms and conditions.

Where can I read more about the technical specifications of your CCTV systems?

For a number of our products, we offer PDF downloads that provide more detailed information; however, our advisors can provide a full specification for each of our camera products if necessary.

Can you provide a site assessment?

Yes, and we recommend doing so. This discovery session enables us to highlight and pinpoint any ‘blind spots’ and advise on the setup of your commercial CCTV systems. We can then provide a more accurate quote for setup, installation, and maintenance.

    Do you provide out-of-hours assistance?

Yes, our Alarm Receiving Centre is open and manned by security personnel 24/7, and can be contacted on 0870 770 6811 should you encounter a problem or become aware of a potential threat.

What happens in the event of an activation?

If we visit your site due to an activation or CCTV breach, we will send you a full activation report summarising the event details, including the time, location, and date. We will also log the measures taken and inform your staff.

    Will you maintain the CCTV?

Yes, our installations are contingent on a regular maintenance contract being in place, as this is the only way we can guarantee continued performance. We will arrange routine maintenance for all our CCTV systems to ensure they are working as expected. A regular maintenance schedule is necessary to reduce the risk of outages.

Do I need any supplementary services?

This depends on your security needs, and we can advise on this during our site visit. We can also install alarms to detect fire and flooding, or video-verified alarms to detect movement in certain areas of your site.

Do you need a licence to operate CCTV?

In the UK, a licence is generally required to operate CCTV if the system is used for purposes beyond personal or domestic use, such as in a business or public setting.

Specifically, if you are using CCTV to monitor a public place, you must comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This includes registering with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a data controller and adhering to the ICO’s data protection and privacy guidelines.

However, if CCTV is solely for personal use, such as in a private home, a licence is not typically required.
