Key information
Scope of project: Site Security
Area: Wales
Services: Commercial CCTV, Remote Monitoring
Background
Renewable energy infrastructure is often located in remote areas and was not historically viewed as a high-risk target for theft. However, as the value of materials such as copper has increased, assets within wind farms and battery storage sites have become more attractive to criminals.
Infinite Renewables, a Welsh company specialising in the design, development and management of renewable energy schemes, recognised the growing risk to one of their sites. Alongside concerns about potential theft of valuable materials, the site was also experiencing issues with fly-tipping. Clearway was instructed to implement a security strategy that would protect the perimeter, secure the assets, and deter criminal activity.
Solution
Following detailed site surveys, Clearway implemented a long-term security strategy designed to retrofit protection across the site and its assets. The solution included the installation of CCTV cameras, deterrent lighting, sounders and tannoys, along with highly visible warning signage to make it clear the site was under surveillance.
These systems were integrated with Clearway’s NSI Gold Cat II Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) for 24/7/365 remote monitoring. Combined with Clearway’s alarm response service, this ensured that any intrusion or suspicious activity could be identified quickly and responded to rapidly by mobile response teams.

Outcome
The site is now fully protected and continuously monitored, providing the client with complete peace of mind. The visible CCTV signage and enhanced security measures have also successfully deterred further instances of fly-tipping.
In addition, Infinite Renewables can securely view live CCTV footage remotely from their mobile devices, allowing them to keep oversight of the site from any location.
