Key information
Scope of project: Large vacant Euro Hostel site
Area: Glasgow
Equipment: Solar powered perimeter intrusion with remote monitoring, steel security door and windows screens, flood detection and smoke detection
Background
The client contacted Clearway mid-December 2023 for recommendations and solutions to secure the large Euro Hostel site in Glasgow, which they were closing due to being sold with vacant possession. The site, in the city centre, was spread over nine storeys and had communication masts on the roof. The client did not instruct the works until January 6th, with the site scheduled to close on January 11th. Clearway attended the site and completed a full comprehensive survey and report, which was supplied to the client.
Solution
Working with the client and insurers to confirm the equipment met all of the requirements stated on the insurance report, Clearway engineers were mobilised and on site on the 11th January to take vacant possession. All of the ground floor windows were secured with thirty steel security sheets and a steel door installed for access. Clearway inView Detect PIDs were installed on the ground floor, with an additional twenty five internal units covering the 1st floor, as this area was accessible from a canopy roof, with smoke detection as well as flood detection installed in the basement.

An inView Detect PID was deployed on the ninth floor flat roof, to cover the communications/phone masts, and weekly vacant property inspections were carried out, to ensure the building was insurance compliant. Technical data sheets were provided to the insurers regarding the alarm systems.

Outcome
The client was very satisfied with the service provided, and confident that Clearway had taken secure vacant possession. Clearway also ensured that compliance for the insurers had also been met.
