Background
Earlier this year, Octopus Energy, the UK’s largest energy supplier and one of Europe’s leading investors in renewable generation, reached out to Clearway for suitable protection of their temporary wind turbine, affectionately known as ‘Gusty,’ whilst it was situated in Devon.
This was a four-week installation, as Gusty was transported to various locations across the UK in 2024 with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of clean energy and highlight Octopus Energy’s commitment to building more wind turbines throughout England, as a renewable energy provider.
Solution
Clearway acknowledged not only the importance of securing the wind turbine and maintaining public safety, particularly as Gusty was such a point of interest, but also the need for a robust, temporary and sustainable security solution.
Our purpose-built inView solar-powered CCTV tower was swiftly deployed and configured to provide instant visual security surveillance to cover large open spaces. The site also benefited from out of hours remote monitoring service, provided by our in-house NSI Gold Cat II Alarm Receiving Centre.
Outcome
The benefit of the inView CCTV Tower’s ability to recored 24/7/365 was continually demonstrated throughout this period, as unsurprisingly Gusty proved to be a huge attraction. The installation was a complete success and Gusty remained fully secure and protected throughout its stay in Devon.
At the next install, we plan to power our CCTV Tower from the energy ‘Gusty’ generates, further enhancing the sustainability values Clearway share with Octopus Energy.
